The world is revolving and the activities, fashion and norms that were referred to as “uncool” are getting the center stage again in the modern world.
School authorities are also realizing that their students need to be more practical than theoretical, hence are not allowing to be left behind.

One of the local schools in Uganda organised a three-day school camp that saw over 30 schools participate. the aim was to equip students with entrepreneurship and farming skills.

Where agriculture/ farming were activities resorted to as a final option and the practitioners looked at with contempt, today, they take center stage. With less white collar jobs available, young people are realizing it is time to be more of job creators than job seekers.

It is such a joy to see both local and International bodies supporting them as well in this venture. UN Food and Agriculture Organisation(FAO),National Animal Genetic Resources Center and Data Bank, World Agro Forestry Center(ICRAF) Tree talk and The Good Seed Initiative have been seen supporting young farmers on more occasions.

Besides basic farming skills, these camps also teach participants how to test the soil’s acidity, making of bio-gas among others.

The youth are no longer waiting to be fed, but are now the ones feeding their nations.
