Path clearance around the Bay of Ieranto, Amalfi Coast

The working holiday (20-26 year olds):  Join us in maintaining the coastal path and visitor facilities around the beautiful Baia di Ieranto, famous for its mystical heritage and its clear blue water overlooking Capri.  Tasks will be varied : you may be greeting tourists at the FAI information desks at the start of the path or in the picnic area; assisting the Rangers in maintaining the path, for instance fixing fences, cleaning visitor facilities or helping with clearing the beach.  As a participant you will learn about the heritage and topography of the area, as well as have ample opportunity to enjoy the amazing views.

It is important that participants have a good aptitude for outdoor work, even at high temperatures and humidity levels.   A good level of fitness is required as the Bay can only be reached on foot, hiking on a trail of medium difficulty – there are steep gradients in places.

Accommodation:  In Nerano in one of two apartments of 8 beds and 2 bathrooms overlooking a common patio with garden and direct access to the path to the bay.  You will need to bring sheets, pillowcase and towels.  Cost includes 6 lunches and 1 dinner.  You will be able to cook in the apartment if you wish.

Dates:  Choose from 1 week 23/07/2018-30/07/2018 or 13/08/2018-20/08/2018 or a 2 week working holiday 30/07/2018-13/08/2018

(NB. If the minimum number of participants is not reached on the 2 week holiday, there will be two 1 week holidays in this period.  Please enquire).

Price:  1 week stay : 300 € (£270*) or 2 week stay : 580 € (£523*)

These holidays are organised by: FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano – the National Trust for Italy.  It was established as a non-profit organisation in 1975 to protect and take care of special places in Italy for the benefit of people today and future generations.  FAI has organised working holidays for individuals aged 20-26 years of age since 2013 as a way of engaging young people in heritage conservation.
