The walk from Ferrol to Santiago de Compostela is a part of the el camino, this is about 120 kms and will take 5 days.
Recently I have met a lot of people who have walked this path. A few months ago when my friend Oliver Maurice told me that he was going to do this section in celebration of his 70th birthday, I agreed to join him. My 70th birthday is in May 2014. My wonderful wife and partner Gerie is also joining us. I hope that we will be joined by other INTO volunteers and Amicus Members, each sharing this adventure and supporting the work of INTO connecting people to special places, forever for everyone around the globe. The walk also supports our INTO member agency in Galicia “Tesouros de Galicia”. My goal is to support INTO’s critical work by raising $2,000 in sponsorship or through small events.
INTO makes a difference in the world. It works as an interface between the established and emerging trusts and conservation organisations in all parts of the world. It provides best practices, information exchange and mentoring opportunities. Even more than that INTO provides a global voice for trust organisations on issues that matter to us all. Things like recognizing and working to reduce the impacts of Climate Change, recognizing that a cultures heritage is a human right, that nature matters and that community involvement is key to our collective future.
You can help by making a donation toward this campaign. Help me reach my goal. Donations can be made securely through PayPal.
This year for my birthday and a part of this campaign, for the first time in many years, I will be ‘asking’ for birthday gifts. The catch is I will be asking that such gifts to made to INTO in support of its work.
