2018年工作假期

We are delighted to offer a selection of the very popular overseas working holidays for summer 2018.

These holidays are organised and run independently by members of the International National Trusts Organisation (INTO).  We hope there’s something you will enjoy – whether it’s helping to restore a renowned pilgrimage church in the Czech Republic or conserving a historic Romanian mansion using traditional plastering techniques.  Please note that we will be uploading a larger selection of overseas working holidays in March 2018.

NB Please apply directly to the holiday organisers. Email addresses can be found after each set of holidays.

These holidays are organised by the Pro Patrimonio Foundation – Romania’s National Trust.  The Foundation was set up in 2000 to save, preserve and restore the architectural and cultural heritage of Romania.  It provides support for the restoration and re-use of historic buildings and actively promotes the use of appropriate construction techniques and traditional craftsmanship.

Rehabilitation of the Park and Gardens at Villa Golescu

The working holiday:  You’ll be based at Villa Golescu in the charming city of Campulung Muscel which is situated in the outlying hills of the Carpathian mountains.  Built in 1910, the villa is a beautiful example of the neo-romanian style in the region and it has survived the wars and communist era thanks to the family’s descendants who wished to save it for future generations.

The villa’s grounds comprise a beautiful terraced park and gardens that include many rare and exotic species brought from abroad by the original owner during the early years of last century.  Help us to restore and conserve these unique and historic gardens!   Tasks will be varied including restoring an old natural spring, repairing the stonework of the garden’s walls and some clearing of vegetation.

There’ll also be the opportunity to discover the rich heritage of Campulung Muscel, which dates back to 1300, and enjoy the beautiful forests and mountain landscapes of the area.

Accommodation:  Participants can choose from:  camping in the park,  1 room with 6 beds in the villa’s annex or 3 double rooms and 1 single room in the villa.  All meals will be served in the villa.

Traditional Plastering at Neamtu Mansion, Southern Romania

The working holiday:  The Neamtu mansion, a National Heritage Monument, is situated in the village of Olari in Olt County and is very close to the Danube.  It is one of the few remaining examples of a preserved Neo-Romanian style property in the south of the country.  The mansion’s history starts around 1400 and, having been through numerous changes of ownership, it was completely restructured by Ion Mincu, one of Romania’s most celebrated architects.  Further changes  were made early last century, including the addition of belvedere towers and balconies, in a style heavily influenced by the Art Nouveau movement.  The working holiday will focus on using traditional techniques for plaster on interior and exterior walls.

Accommodation:  Participants can choose from camping on site or 2 rooms (each with 3 beds) in the mansion.
