小额资助项目

We are delighted to announce the latest tranche of the INTO Small Grants Programme!

National Trust of Zimbabwe’s Heritage Education Project supported by the SGP

Our Small Grants Programme (SGP) is designed to provide small scale but catalytic support for the international family of INTO member organisations, working on heritage management and related community-led cultural programmes.   It is open to all INTO Members and Associates in good standing.

The primary purpose of the SGP is to build capacity and strengthen the sustainability of INTO members. On this basis, the grants would support the following:

  • Activities and programmes to provide improved performance in obtaining the necessary
    resources in carrying out and sustain on-going programmes;
  • Transfer of knowledge from experienced members to the less experienced members by supporting travel costs and out of pocket expenses for specialists or volunteers to provide advice;
  • Provide support for internships arranged with experienced INTO members;
  • Support fundraising and membership recruitment projects, and preparation of business plans and conservation plans; and
  • Activities to strengthen financial management and member outreach.

Candidate project priorities should be consistent with these criteria, and should be integral with the member organization’s work programme, and be intended for completion within 2 years of approval.

SGP funds would finance up to 50% of candidate project costs. The grant must be matched with other resources, which may be in kind.

Target applications should be for project proposals costing up to a total of £6,000 (UK Pounds) implying an SGP grant of up to £3,000 (£3,000 is the maximum amount we can award).

One of the goals of the SGP is to enable organisations to use their Small Grant as leverage to obtain funding from other sources for their project.

Applications should be received by July 31, 2017.

For further details, please see the SGP Guidelines and Application Form.

In the last tranche, we awarded Small Grants to the National Trust of Slovakia (above) and the Czech National Trust

Last year, the Sierra Leone Monuments and Relics Commission received a Small Grant for its awareness raising project on Bunce Island, site of European slave trade operations and which is currently on the World Heritage Tentative List.

We are delighted to support this project about which more information can be found here.

In 2015, we awarded Small Grants to the National Trust of Zimbabwe and the Portuguese National Trust.   The former was a Cultural Education Heritage Project at the Rhodes Nyanga Historical Exhibition engaging local communities and schools in practical craft skill projects, such as sculpture, spinning, weaving and pottery (see above).  An update on the project can be found in Catherine’s blog below.
